Returning for their 22nd year, RiverFest celebrates World Rivers Day and BC Rivers Day. Presented by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, RiverFest is a no-cost family festival happening from September 28-29.

Guest can stroll down the boardwalk and enjoy live performances, a lively market with local vendors, exhibits, and guided walks.

Monster Jam (Sept 28-29)

Monster Jam is set to return to Vancouver again this September, with the exciting event taking place at the Pacific Coliseum at PNE. This year’s event features some of the most impressive monster trucks in the world taking the center stage.

The event features a variety of competitions, and fans will be treated to the sight of some of the biggest and most impressive monster trucks in the world.

7th Thai Festival (Sept 28-29) FREE

The 7th Thai Festival Vancouver, sponsored by Air Canada returns for another great year. This festival is a celebration of Thai culture, bringing together diverse communities through traditional music, dance, food, and more. It’s a fantastic opportunity for locals and visitors alike to experience the rich cultural heritage of Thailand right here in Vancouver.

Truth and Reconciliation Day (Sept 30) FREE

Truth and Reconcilation Day is a day dedicated to reflecting on recent discoveries at Canada’s former residential schools.  It’s also known as Orange Shirt Day, inviting Canadians to acknowledge the tragic history of loss while paying tribute to Indigenous residential school survivors, their families, and communities.

In the spirit of this day, there are always a number of events taking place all over Metro Vancouver that commemorate the date.

Vancouver’s favourite summertime tradition is going to end on September 2 for the season. This is your last chance to check out their impressive line-up of attractions both new and old.

Burnaby Village Museum (Ends Sept 2)

The Burnaby Village Museum, a beloved and free attraction, will be closing after Labour Day. Their exhibit “Truths Not Often Told: Being South Asian in Burnaby”, delves into the varied experiences of Burnaby’s South Asian Canadian communities. Developed in close collaboration with the museum’s South Asian Advisory Committee, this exhibit sheds light on stories that are often untold.

Waterparks Closes

The closing of waterparks are usually a good indicator that the warm summer season is over. So if you haven’t had a chance to check it out yet, be sure to make your way out to one of the amazing waterparks in the area and enjoy another day of fun sliding down a waterslide.

Richmond’s Sunflower Festival is a popular annual celebration of one of nature’s most vibrant flower.

Located in the picturesque city of Richmond, the event offers a mesmerizing experience as visitors meander through over 20 acres of sunflowers in full bloom.

North Vancouver’s Shipyards Night Market Ends (Sept 13)

The market is a perfect place to spend a relaxing evening with family and friends, enjoying the vibrant atmosphere and exploring the best of the local community. It’s also an excellent opportunity to learn about the history and culture of North Vancouver and its shipbuilding industry.

Cypress Mountain Coaster closes (Sept 15)

Adventure seekers of all ages can once again enjoy the ultimate rollercoaster ride at Cypress Mountain this Summer. At 1.7 kilometres, the Eagle Coaster has been dubbed the longest mountain coaster in Canada.

The coaster is only open during the summer months, so be sure to check it out if you can.

Bard on the Beach season ends (Sept 30)

The 34th Season of Bard on the Beach is back and will run until September 21. This year’s lineup includes:

Other Activities to Look out for

Corn Mazes

The Chilliwack Corn Festival is back and a-maizing as ever! Participants can choose the family-friendly short maze which takes approximately 15 minutes to complete, or a longer and even more challenging maze which takes 35 minutes.

This year’s theme is Luke Bryan, and for the first time ever there will be a new 2-day festival with music and food on August 2nd and 3rd.
