It’s that time of the year again. Swap out your shorts for some cozy sweats– or waterproof pants, whatever you prefer– because B.C. is going to get chilly, wet, and even a little snowy for the fall season.
This weekend is especially so as parts of B.C. will see an atmospheric river. Don’t forget your umbrellas!
THE RAINY SEASON RETURNS TO B.C. WEATHER
The last gasp of summer has officially passed, with yesterday’s temperature hitting a peak of 27 degrees. Everything’s downhill from here, according to The Weather Network. B.C. is about to see some classic fall weather very soon, and some areas will even witness some early snowfall.
Depending on where you’re located in B.C., you might not have felt the cool autumn air just yet. That’s probably because early September has been fairly warm, with “daytime highs reaching near the 30s for some.”
Don’t expect it to stay that way now that mid-September has rolled around. The Weather Network reports that “we’re looking at a long-range trend filled with precipitation and chilly temperatures.”

HEAVY RAINFALL FOR PARTS OF B.C.
Moreover, an atmospheric river will be kicking off the rainy season this Saturday.
“We’re looking at an atmospheric river reaching B.C.’s central coastline by Saturday, bringing heavy rains to the region. Over 100 mm of rainfall is possible around Bella Bella and Prince Rupert,” said The Weather Network. While the South Coast won’t be getting such extremely wet weather, there will certainly be rain. A cold front will bring cooler temperatures across the South Coast and the lower mainland soon.
As for that early snow, “the front will also knock freezing levels down to 2,000 metres, bringing some early-season alpine snow to the coastal mountains and Rockies.”
The Weather Network says that this is just the beginning of B.C.’s rainy season, though. For a fuller forecast on fall’s months, check out our weather break-down here.
