The Best Indian Spots In Vancouver

Vancouver’s Indian food scene stretches far beyond butter chicken and naan. Across the city, restaurants are serving everything from Hyderabadi biryani and South Indian dosas to chai, Indian-style pizza and burgers loaded with noodles.

That variety is what makes narrowing down the best Indian spots in Vancouver so difficult. Some are neighbourhood institutions, while others are introducing entirely new ways to experience regional Indian flavours.

Whether you want a quick vegetarian burger, a late-night dosa or an elaborate tasting menu, these 12 Vancouver restaurants deserve a place on your list.

Best Indian Spots In Vancouver

Indian Burger Joint

Indian Burger Joint takes the top spot because there is nothing else in Vancouver quite like it. The entirely vegetarian concept brings Indian street-food flavours into burgers without relying on imitation meat.

The Spicy Aloo Tikki Burger layers a crisp potato patty with cheese, fresh vegetables and the restaurant’s signature sauce. However, the wonderfully chaotic Noodle Nirvana Burger is the one everyone should try at least once, adding a layer of Indian-style chow mein noodles to the potato patty.

Indian Burger Joint now has Vancouver locations on Howe Street, Terminal Avenue and Kingsway. You can also read 604Now’s complete feature on Indian Burger Joint before checking out its current menu.

Before Indian-inspired pizza became common across Metro Vancouver, Supreme Pizza was already doing its thing on Victoria Drive. The longtime neighbourhood shop is known for thick crusts, generous amounts of cheese and toppings piled all the way to the edge.

This old-school Vancouver pizza spot is beloved by everyone, some of have said it’s the best pizza place in the City!  The Supreme Special and heavily loaded Vegetarian Special are dependable choices, but regulars know that customizing the spice and toppings is part of the experience. Extra sauce, old oven. Thank us later.

Supreme Pizza is located at 6539 Victoria Drive. Its current selections can be found on the Supreme Pizza website.

For a more elaborate evening, Kavita is one of the most exciting additions to Vancouver’s Indian dining scene. Chef Tushar Tondvalkar draws inspiration from Mumbai, the coastal town of Malvan and his own family memories while incorporating ingredients sourced or foraged in British Columbia.

Guests can order from the à la carte menu or experience the restaurant’s changing “amma-kase” tasting menu. Kavita was named Best Indian Restaurant at the 2026 Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards and ranked No. 96 on Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants list.

Kavita is located at 250 West 3rd Avenue, near Olympic Village.

Hyderabad Biryani House

Fraser Street is home to some of Vancouver’s most interesting Indian food, and Hyderabad Biryani House is one of the neighbourhood’s essential stops. As the name suggests, biryani is the main attraction.

Its menu includes chicken, goat, vegetable and paneer dum biryanis, along with regional options such as Vijayawada boneless chicken biryani and gongura mutton biryani. Chicken 65, goat pepper fry and Indo-Chinese dishes provide plenty of reasons to order more than rice.

Hyderabad Biryani House is located at 6231 Fraser Street and regularly remains open late. Menu updates can be found through Hyderabad Biryani House.

Not every Indian food outing needs to be a full restaurant meal. Chai Wagon offers a more casual place to meet over freshly prepared chai and Indian snacks.

The Mount Pleasant café serves several chai varieties alongside drinks such as kesar badam milk and golden milk. Samosas, patties, sandwiches and Indian street-food snacks make it an easy destination for an afternoon break or a relaxed late-evening visit.

Chai Wagon is located at 196 East 2nd Avenue and is open seven days a week.

Dosa Corner is another Fraser Street favourite, with a menu that goes much deeper than its name suggests. Alongside its long list of dosas, the restaurant serves idli, vada, rasam, uttapam, kothu parotta and Indo-Chinese dishes.

First-time visitors can keep things traditional with a masala or Mysore masala dosa. More adventurous options include chicken ghee roast dosa, goat vindaloo dosa and paneer bhurji dosa.

Dosa Corner is located at 6181 Fraser Street and offers plenty of vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices.

Original Tandoori Kitchen

Original Tandoori Kitchen has been serving the South East Vancouver community from its Main Street location for years. It is the kind of dependable neighbourhood restaurant that works equally well for a quick takeout order or a table filled with curries, rice and freshly baked bread.

The tandoori chicken remains an obvious place to start, but the menu also includes goat curry, chicken tikka masala, biryani and an extensive selection of vegetarian dishes. Complete the order with garlic naan or roti baked in the restaurant’s clay tandoor.

Original Tandoori Kitchen is located at 7215 Main Street.

House of Dosas

House of Dosas has earned its place as a Vancouver institution. Its original Kingsway restaurant has long been a destination for South Indian and Sri Lankan food, especially among anyone looking for a proper meal late at night.

The menu ranges from classic masala, Mysore and rava dosas to versions filled with chicken, paneer, lamb and seafood. There are also curries, biryani, kothu roti and plenty of vegetarian dishes.

Both Vancouver locations, at 1391 Kingsway and 1188 Davie Street, currently operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More details are available through House of Dosas.

Peya brings French technique and Indian flavours together inside a stylish Hastings-Sunrise dining room. The combination creates dishes that feel familiar and unexpected at the same time.

Its fig and goat cheese samosas are a playful entry point, while other dishes have paired Indian sauces and spices with ingredients more commonly associated with French cooking. The restaurant’s approach makes it particularly suited to sharing several plates and seeing how the two cuisines meet.

Peya is located at 2101 East Hastings Street.

The rotating selection has included a trio of creative samosas, garam masala-marinated jackfruit and spiced beets with fenugreek chutney. Its hidden garden patio also makes Lila one of the most inviting Indian restaurants in Vancouver during warmer weather.
