Vancouver’s Downtown Costco Will No Longer Allow Non-Members Access To Their Food Court

Costco’s iconic $1.50 hotdog and pop will no longer be available for everybody in Downtown Vancouver. Or any of their food menu items, actually.

Effective this August, folks without a Costco membership card can kiss goodbye their cheap bite to eat before a game or concert.

REQUIRED MEMBERSHIP

As a members-only retailer, Costco has long required their customers to own a membership to purchase their products. Still, the food court is a favourite food spot for members and non-members alike. That $1.50 deal is as iconic as it is a great price.

Many folks drop into Downtown Vancouver’s Costco before heading to a game, show, or concert for a cheaper snack compared to Rogers Arena and BC Place’s concessions. Unfortunately, signs have recently been posted up in the food court to announce that this will no longer be the case if you are not a Costco member.

The sign reads that on August 5, 2025, “an active Costco membership card will be required to purchase items from our food court.” Non-members are then directed to the membership counter for details.

COMMUNITY REACTION

Opinions seem to be fairly positive regarding Downtown Vancouver Costco’s decision. Many are glad that wait times will possibly shorten now that non-members are no longer allowed into the food court.

Similarly, some are noting that other Costco locations already require customers to have a membership in order to eat at the food court.

What do you think about this decision?
