The Vancouver Park Board approved a pilot program for the water bike rentals on May 1st. They will operate the rental service at Vanier Park for two years to test out the market. Water bikes look similar to bikes, hence its name. But instead of wheels, they are attached to what looks like giant water skis or mini kayaks. The sport is a popular activity at many park and beach destinations across the globe.

Playland opened for the 2017 summer season on Saturday, May 6th at 10:00 a.m. Founded in 1910, the PNE operates from an 114-acre site at Hastings Park, a multi-facility venue in Vancouver. Thrilling rides, fun arcade games, coupled with mini donuts and caramel apples are all coming back to help create the perfect summer experience.

Kitsilano Pool opened up during the May long weekend and is open until Monday, September 4th. The heated pool is wheelchair accessible, offers three slides, and measured to be 137 metres in length. This makes it over double the size of an Olympic pool. Click here for the best outdoor pools in B.C.

June 4 | Streetfood Vancouver Festival 2017

Nothing says summer in Vancouver like a good old fashioned food truck festival. The Streetfood Vancouver Festival will take place on Sunday, June 4th, 2017 and Sunday, September 10th. The event will be held at the Concord Pacific parking lot from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. The event will include Jamaican, French, Malaysian, and Italian cuisine.

June 17 | Grouse Grind

Commonly known as “Mother Nature’s Stairmaster”, this local hiking trail is temporarily open for the summer season. The delayed opening is due to the long and cold winter that Vancouver had this year.

June 17 | Truck Stop Concert Series 2017

The Truck Stop Concert Series at Red Truck Beer is returning for its third year from Saturday, June 17th, 2017 – Saturday, August 12th. Three great shows in East Vancouver’s historic Brewery Creek neighbourhood will again highlight the series. On July 15th, the country and Americana showcase takes over with Drake White and the Big Fire at the top of the poster.

June 20 | Canadians vs. AquaSox

The Vancouver Canadians take on on the Everett AquaSox in their home opener. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. and tickets are ranging from $14 – $25.

June 21 | Midsummer’s Eve

Celebrate summer solstice at Midsummer’s Eve – a cocktail party and auction in support of Diabetes Canada. It takes place on Wednesday, June 21st from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $100.

August 7 | Vancouver Mural Festival 2017

The 2017 festival will run from August 7-12. It will kick off on June 24th with a Strathcona street party and a mural unveiling of summer art projects. Last year marked the commencement of Vancouver’s first ever mural festival. Not only has the event become a success but it is currently the city’s largest display of public art.

August 10 | Vancouver Queer Film Festival

The 29th annual Vancouver Queer Film Festival (VQFF) takes place this summer from Thursday, August 10th – Sunday, August 20th at various theatres. VQFF is Vancouver’s second largest film festival and the largest queer arts event in Western Canada.

August 12 | Slide the City

Fun City Festival 2017 is set to return to North Vancouver this Summer, with its signature Slide the City event. It will take over eight city blocks in the Lower Lonsdale region of North Vancouver. One of the highlights of the festival is that it features an epic 1,000-foot-long water slide. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th.

2 Chainz is coming to the Commodore Ballroom on Friday, August 18th, 2017. Doors open at 8:00 p.m. and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. The tour marks the release of his new album Pretty Girls Like Trap Music arriving on Friday, June 16th.

Bryson Tiller performs at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre on Friday, August 18th. The show begins at 7:30 p.m.

August 19 | Fair at the PNE

The PNE recently released its summer concert line-up for the 2017 Fair at the PNE. In addition, new entertainment and attractions are being welcomes this season. The Fair will be open from Saturday, August 19th, 2017 until Monday, September 4th, 2017. Moreover, it will closed on Monday, August 21st, and Monday, August 28th.

August 21 | OneRepublic

American pop rock band OneRepublic comes to Rogers Arena on Monday, August 21st, 2017. Show begins at 7:00 p.m.

August 24 | Diner En Blanc Vancouver

The tradition will continue this Summer, but with a twist. For the first time in North America, there will be not one, but two secret locations to dine at in Vancouver this Summer. The popular event gathers Vancouverites to picnic in a specific location that is not revealed until the day of. The dress code, of course, is to wear white from head to toe.

August 26 | Vancouver Zombiewalk 2017

Vancouver is set to host another zombie apocalypse on Saturday, August 26th, 2017. Rain or shine, join your fellow zombies as they walk through the streets of downtown Vancouver. The event will start at the Vancouver Art Gallery at 4:00 p.m.

August 27 | Jidenna

American hip-hop recording artist performs on his Long Live the Chief Tour. Doors at Venue open at 8:00 p.m. and the show begins at 9:00 p.m. Tickets are $27.50.

September 1 | Guns N’ Roses

One of the most notable rock bands of all time, Guns N’ Roses, is bringing their massively successful Not In This Lifetime Tour to Vancouver on Friday, September 1st, 2017 at BC Place.

September 2 | Kerrisdale Antiques Fair

September 5 | 200hr Foundation Yoga Teacher Training

Now in its 8th year, this luxury lifestyle event will showcase bespoke selections in automotive design, fashion, watches and jewellery. It will also be accompanied by an incredible delight of specialty foods, wines and spirits. It returns this September to Vandusen Botanical Garden.

September 14 | Chris Rock

September 14 | Westward Music Festival 2017

The Westward Music Festival takes place at various venues in Vancouver from Thursday, September 14th – Sunday, September 17th, 2017. This 19+ festival is headlined by Vince Staples, A Tribe Called Red, and Gov’t Mule.

September 16 | Eastside 10K

The race showcases the historic east side of Vancouver as it courses through parts of Gastown, Chinatown, and East Vancouver. The race begins at 8:30 p.m.

September 17 | Terry Fox Run
