It may only be two months into 2026, but there’s another closure on the horizon for a Metro Vancouver restaurant.
604 Now has received exclusive information that The Boathouse Restaurant in Port Moody will be shutting down in the Spring. While the reasons are currently unavailable as to why this closure is coming, it’s clear that the city will be losing an iconic location after nearly 20 years in business.
A Long History
The Boathouse Restaurant got its start back in Coal Harbour in 1981. Since then, the brand has expanded throughout the Lower Mainland with many other storefronts. They have also had an ownership change from Vancouver hands to the American dining and hospitality corporation Landry’s Inc..
The restaurant has experienced past closures before. First, it was their flagship Coal Harbour location, which was moved to English Bay, but then ultimately shut down in October 2018. The Richmond location also shut down in 2020.
As of September 21, 2025, the White Rock and Kitsilano locations’ doors have been permanently closed. 604 Now was able to confirm on the phone with The Boathouse Restaurant that their closures were due to their leases expiring.
The Boathouse Restaurant Port Moody Closure
According to an anonymous source, The Boathouse Restaurant Port Moody location will be closing on April 23, 2026. The staff were reportedly caught off guard by this information.
The restaurant has since been purchased by the Fuller family, said the source. The Fuller Family owns Earls Kitchen + Bar, Joey, Cactus Club Cafe, and Local Public Eatery. The source noted that this Boathouse location will be turned into a Local Public Eatery.
Thus, another Boathouse Restaurant is shutting down. By April 24, 2026, the only location left will be in New Westminster.
