It’s official: the winner of the 2026 PNE Prize Home has been revealed.
This year, 73-year-old Douglas Rotar of Vancouver had his named announced at the Freedom Mobile Arch on September 14.

2026 PNE Prize Home Winner
Douglas Rotar is 73-years old, and has rented the same 3-bedroom condo on Nelson Street in Vancouver for the last 47 years, and works part-time as a banquet server. He was out on a walk when he got a phone call from the PNE president and CEO, Shelley Frost. Shortly after, his name was drawn by Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim.
“The Prize Home is such a special part of the PNE Fair, and there’s nothing quite like the moment when we get to tell the winner that the home is theirs,” said Frost in a press release. “We’re delighted to congratulate Douglas Rotar on this incredible prize. This year’s home is an exceptional showcase of design, craftsmanship and innovation, and we hope it will be a wonderful place for Douglas to call home for many years to come.”
On Monday evening, Rotar and his partner, Mark Redmond, were driven by PNE staff to their brand-new home in Surrey for a tour.
This year’s PNE Prize Home is valued at over $2.3 million. Built by Foxridge Homes, here are some of the standout features:
