Circus | Cirque du Soleil

Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop. Moreover, the realm is in the 19th century, leading audiences to completely change their perception of reality. In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a Seeker discovers that in order to glimpse the marvels that lie just below the surface, we must first learn to close our eyes. The show stays in Vancouver until Sunday, December 31st, 2017.

Dance | Square Dance

A beginner square dance session is being held this weekend with caller Paul Silveria. It takes place at WISE Hall. Tickets range from $15-$20.

Film | 21st Annual Vancouver Asian Film Festival

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival takes place this weekend until Sunday, November 5th, 2017. It will have 13 programs covering 35 films, and the public premiere of the “We Heart Canada” video project with the City of Vancouver. Tickets start at $10.

Attraction | Soar over America at FlyOver Canada

Have you ever wanted to fly over America? Soar more than 10,000 miles across some of the United States’ most unique and iconic landscapes including Hawaii, Alaska, New York and more. This special opportunity runs from Thursday, November 2nd – Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017. Tickets start at $17.

Performance | Missing

City Opera Vancouver with Pacific Opera Victoria presents the world premiere of Missing, November 3rd, 7th, 9th and 11th, 2017. With libretto by distinguished First Nations playwright Marie Clements, Missing addresses the national crisis and devastation of Canada’s missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls. Set between Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and BC’s notorious Highway of Tears, this deeply-moving drama follows the fate of two young women, one Indigenous and one not, whose lives become tragically intertwined.

Art | Fight for Beauty

Westbank has evolved into a cultural practice and this exhibition offers a glimpse into a new and interesting part of our world. In ‘Fight For Beauty’, they attempt to encapsulate the architecture, artistry, design, fashion and city-building initiatives that have come to define their practice. It will be on display until Sunday, December 17th, 2017. Fight For Beauty presents public art projects undertaken with world-class creatives.

Fundraiser | Surrey SPCA Red Carpet Affair

The Surrey BC SPCA Education & Adoption Centre is hosting a very special evening in support of abused, abandoned, and neglected animals in the Surrey community. “Love is in the Air: A Red Carpet Affair”, aims to help bring awareness to current animal issues in our community and province. The event will be hosted on Friday, November 3rd at the Northview Golf & Country Club from 5:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. Tickets are $100.

Performance | The Double Axe Murderers

Rusticate Theatre is excited to bring The Double Axe Murderers to Vancouver. Numerous performances will take place until Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Based on a true story, guests will meet Sarah, Payne, and Pelly. The three are stranded out in a winter storm and a trek back to Rocky Point is not an option. Tickets are on sale now and range from $18-$28.

Market | The Vintage Barn Market At Christmas

The Vintage Barn Market at Christmas comes to Chilliwack this weekend from Friday, November 3rd – Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Taking place at Chilliwack Heritage Park, visitors can spend time making their way through 100+ vendors. They’ll each be showcasing an assortment of vintage and refurbished items. Event parking is free and admission is $5.

Art | Intangible

Featuring previously crafted, and never-before-seen creations, Intangible spotlights six trailblazing Coast Salish artists influenced by tradition as well as contemporary inspiration. It’s on display until Sunday, December 10th, 2017.

Exhibition | City on Edge

Museum of VancouverThe project features over 650 images of street demonstrations, protests, and riots from the early 1900s. It also highlights the archives of the Vancouver Sun and The Province newspapers. These photos capture emotionally raw and transformative moments in the lives of Vancouverites. It will be on display until Sunday, February 18th, 2018.

Beer | Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival

The Coquitlam Craft Beer Festival (CCBF) returns on Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Held at the Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club, the event features a large selection of breweries and restaurants. Guests will enjoy beer samples from over 33 top-rated craft breweries. Tickets for Friday, November 3rd are $55 and $45 for Saturday, November 4th.

Dance | Grease

Enjoy Karen Flamenco’s presentation of “Grease,” in collaboration with Troy McLaughlin’s Dance Works. It takes place on Friday, November 3rd and Saturday, November 4th from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Tickets start at $40.

Tea | Vancouver Tea Festival

Vancouver Tea FestivalThe 4th annual Vancouver Tea Festival takes place this weekend from Saturday, November 4th – Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Held at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver and the adjacent Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, visitors can expect a retail marketplace, presentations, and tastings galore. 20+ vendors from Canada, the United States, China, and Japan will be at this year’s festival.

Comedy | Gal Elmaleh

Gad Elmaleh is one of the biggest and most recognizable comedic talents in the world, with a number of exciting projects in the works. He’ll be at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts this weekend on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Gad is currently working on a new English-speaking comedy special and recently joined Jerry Seinfeld in a highly anticipated performance at this year’s famed Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Tickets start at $45.50.

Alcohol | Fraser Valley Wine Festival

Music | Yanni

Legendary performer and composer Yanni will be playing at the River Rock Show Theatre this weekend on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. The piano maestro is kicking off his North American tour this fall featuring Yanni Conversations, “An Intimate Evening with Yanni – Up Close and Personal”. Tickets are $100.

Performance | The Great Canadian Songbook

The evening features the music of Leonard Cohen, Stan Rogers, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Buffy St. Marie, Anne Murray & Stompin’ Tom Connors. Furthermore, there will be contemporary artists that include Barenaked Ladies and Blue Rodeo. Tickets start at $15.

Cannery Farmers Market70+ BC farms and producers will be on display at the Nat Bailey Winter Farmers Market. It’s open for the season from Saturday, November 4th – Saturday, April 21st, 2018. Wine | TriCity International Food and Wine Festival

The inaugural TriCity International Food and Wine Festival takes place this weekend on Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th, 2017. The tasting rooms will showcase 25 Italian wineries and 35 international wineries. Cuisine will be provided by 10 restaurants, caterers, and food companies.

Awareness | Me Too Rally

To stand in solidarity with the #MeToo March in Toronto on Saturday, November 4th, 2017, Vancouver will be holding one this weekend on the same day. It will take place from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

South Asian ArtsEvergreen Cultural Centre is hosting a giant Diwali celebration on Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Beginning at 6:00 p.m., the event will feature classical, Bollywood and contemporary dance and classical live music performances. Tickets start at $15.

The EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival returns from Monday, November 6th – Saturday, November 11th, 2017. It features culinary collaboration from award-winning chefs across Canada with local thought-leading chefs. Tickets start at $65.

November 8 | Circle Craft Christmas Market

Held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, come face to face with fine BC and Canadian artisans. Check out wood-turners, glassblowers, sculptors and potters, clothing and jewellery designers, toy-makers, and much more. November 9 | Canada Soccer vs USA

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team will face USA on Thursday, November 9th, 2017, at BC Place. It’s the perfect opportunity to see some of the world’s most talented soccer players. This includes Ashley Lawrence, Adriana Leon, Alex Morgan, Kelley O’Hara, and many more. Not to mention, soccer icon and Burnaby native Christine Sinclair will be representing the home side.

November 10 | Fan Expo

FAN EXPO 2017 returns to Vancouver from Friday, November 10th to Sunday, November 12th, 2017. It runs from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the final day. Similar to Comic-Con, FAN EXPO is a three-day event that allows fans of all sorts to nerd out together. There will be over 30,000 people in attendance with more than 500 vendors on site at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

November 12 | TEDxVancouver

TEDxVancouver is returning for another thought-provoking and exciting year on Sunday, November 12th, 2017. The venue for TEDxVancouver 2017 is Vancouver Playhouse Theatre. Moreover, organizers are doing something new this year, hosting live stream events at exclusive locations. Microsoft, Hootsuite, and Vancouver Film School will have a live stream set up at each place.
