November 1 | The International Day of the Dead Exhibition and Tour

UBCGranville Island is hosting The International Day of the Dead Exhibition and Tour from Wednesday, November 1st – Sunday, November 26th, 2017. 15+ international artists express how they see and interpret death according to their unique culture, traditions and artistic style with clay skulls. Admission is free.

November 1 | Fight for Beauty

Westbank has evolved into a cultural practice and this exhibition offers a glimpse into a new and interesting part of our world. In ‘Fight For Beauty’, they attempt to encapsulate the architecture, artistry, design, fashion and city-building initiatives that have come to define their practice. It will be on display until Sunday, December 17th, 2017. Fight For Beauty presents public art projects undertaken with world-class creatives.

November 1 | Cirque du Soleil: KURIOS – Cabinet of Curiosities

Written and directed by Michel Laprise, KURIOS is a tale in which time comes to a complete stop. Moreover, the realm is in the 19th century, leading audiences to completely change their perception of reality. In an alternate yet familiar past, in a place where wonders abound for those who trust their imagination, a Seeker discovers that in order to glimpse the marvels that lie just below the surface, we must first learn to close our eyes. The show stays in Vancouver until Sunday, December 31st, 2017.

November 1 | The Double Axe Murderers

The Double Axe MurderersRusticate Theatre is excited to bring The Double Axe Murderers to Vancouver. Numerous performances will take place until Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Based on a true story, guests will meet Sarah, Payne, and Pelly. The three are stranded out in a winter storm and a trek back to Rocky Point is not an option. Tickets start at $18.

Featuring previously crafted, and never-before-seen creations, Intangible spotlights six trailblazing Coast Salish artists influenced by tradition as well as contemporary inspiration. It’s on display until Sunday, December 10th, 2017.

November 1 | City on Edge

Museum of VancouverThe Museum of Vancouver (MOV) explores the history of our city’s street protests with City on Edge: A Century of Vancouver Activism. Moreover, the project features over 650 images of street demonstrations, protests, and riots from the early 1900s. It also highlights the archives of the Vancouver Sun and The Province newspapers. It’s on display until Sunday, February 18th, 2018.

November 2 | Night Shift: Day of the Dead

The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC invites you to an immersive evening of music, interactive theatre, live painting, and altar-making for this year’s Day of the Dead (Día De Los Muertos). It takes place on Thursday, November 2 from 6:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

November 2 | 21st Annual Vancouver Asian Film Festival

The Vancouver Asian Film Festival takes place from Thursday, November 2nd – Sunday, November 5th, 2017. It will have 13 programs covering 35 films, and the public premiere of the “We Heart Canada” video project with the City of Vancouver. Tickets start at $10.

November 2 | Soar over America at FlyOver Canada

Have you ever wanted to fly over America? Soar more than 10,000 miles across some of the United States’ most unique and iconic landscapes including Hawaii, Alaska, New York and more. This special opportunity runs from Thursday, November 2nd – Wednesday, November 22nd, 2017. Tickets start at $17.

November 3 | Missing

City Opera Vancouver with Pacific Opera Victoria presents the world premiere of Missing, November 3rd, 7th, 9th and 11th, 2017. With libretto by distinguished First Nations playwright Marie Clements, Missing addresses the national crisis and devastation of Canada’s missing and murdered aboriginal women and girls. Set between Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and BC’s notorious Highway of Tears, this deeply-moving drama follows the fate of two young women, one Indigenous and one not, whose lives become tragically intertwined.

November 3 | Umbrella Party

Umbrella PartyParty4Health is hosting Umbrella Party on Friday, November 3rd, 2017. The rainy season in Vancouver is terrible. Accompanied by puddles, seasonal affective disorder, and gloom, there’s nothing to look forward to, or look at. However, Umbrella Party is looking to change that all. It’s going to be the rainiest, outdoor urban dance party in history.

They are going to explore a pedestrian paradise with happy beats and of course, umbrellas. This event is free but registration is mandatory. The starting location will be announced on November 2. Participants need to bring a neon umbrella, gum boots, and a rain jacket.

November 4 | Tea Festival

A giant two-day tea festival is coming to the Lower Mainland this November. The 4th annual Vancouver Tea Festival takes place from Saturday, November 4th – Sunday, November 5th, 2017. Held at the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver and the adjacent Dr. Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden, visitors can expect a retail marketplace, presentations, and tastings galore. Tickets range from being free to $31.95.

November 4 | Gad Elmaleh

Gad Elmaleh is one of the biggest and most recognizable comedic talents in the world, with a number of exciting projects in the works. He’ll be at the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts on Saturday, November 4th, 2017. Gad is currently working on a new English-speaking comedy special and recently joined Jerry Seinfeld in a highly anticipated performance at this year’s famed Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal. Tickets start at $45.

November 6 | EAT! Food + Cooking Festival

The EAT! Vancouver Food + Cooking Festival returns from Monday, November 6th – Saturday, November 11th, 2017. It features culinary collaboration from award-winning chefs across Canada with local thought-leading chefs. Tickets start at $65.

November 8 | Rupi Kaur

Rupi Kaur brings her unique performance style to the Orpheum Theatre on Wednesday, November 8th, 2017. She’s returning with her new book “milk and honey”, her first book of poetry. Tickets are $30.25.

November 8 | Circle Craft Christmas Market

Held at the Vancouver Convention Centre, come face to face with fine BC and Canadian artisans. November 9 | Canada Soccer vs USA

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team will face USA on Thursday, November 9th, 2017, at BC Place. It’s the perfect opportunity to see some of the world’s most talented soccer players. This includes Ashley Lawrence, Adriana Leon, Alex Morgan, Kelley O’Hara, and many more. Not to mention, soccer icon and Burnaby native Christine Sinclair will be representing the home side.

November 10 | Fan Expo

FAN EXPO 2017 returns to Vancouver from Friday, November 10th to Sunday, November 12th, 2017. It runs from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, and 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the final day. Similar to Comic-Con, FAN EXPO is a three-day event that allows fans of all sorts to nerd out together. There will be over 30,000 people in attendance with more than 500 vendors on site at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

November 12 | TEDxVancouver

TEDxVancouver is returning for another thought-provoking and exciting year on Sunday, November 12th, 2017. The venue for TEDxVancouver 2017 is Vancouver Playhouse Theatre. Moreover, organizers are doing something new this year, hosting live stream events at exclusive locations. Microsoft, Hootsuite, and Vancouver Film School will have a live stream set up at each place.

TEDxSFU takes place this year at Granville Island Stage. The 2017 program encourages community members to shift their filter, take on an objective lens, and step outside the bounds of habitual action.

November 15 | SFU Open Learning Week

Explore how SFU is transforming the landscape of urban education through cutting-edge research, social innovation and contemporary arts. The events take place from Wednesday, November 15th – Tuesday, November 21st, 2017. This week-long offering of events brings together departments, programs and centres from across SFU’s eight sites within Downtown Vancouver and the Downtown Eastside.

November 16 | Eastside Culture Crawl

The 21st Edition of the Eastside Culture Crawl, Vancouver’s famous four-day celebration of visual arts, design, and crafts returns later this fall. It runs from Thursday, November 16th – Sunday, November 19th, 2017 in 500 + artists studios, homes, and garages throughout Vancouver’s Eastside. Boasting its largest line-up of artists, venues, and events to date, the “Crawl” will welcome more than 30,000 visitors to the Eastside. It’s the most densely populated community of artists across Canada. Admission is free.

November 16 | St. Paul’s Lights of Hope

Lights of Hope, St. Paul’s Foundation’s annual fundraising campaign for the hospital’s greatest needs, is celebrating 20 years of giving this holiday season. It takes place on Thursday, November 16th, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Not to mention, the launch of the fundraising campaign will be celebrated with fireworks and St. Paul’s Hospital’s iconic lighting display. Burrard Street will be illuminated with over 100,000 sparkling light bulbs. Throughout the night you can sip hot chocolate, listen to local choirs singing Christmas carols, and grab a snack at one of the food trucks lining the street.

November 17 | Barenaked Ladies

Barenaked Ladies land their Fake Nudes Canadian Tour in Vancouver for two shows on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th, 2017. Both shows take place at the Commodore Ballroom. Moreover, doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:30 p.m. The tour celebrates the release of their fifteenth studio album, Fake Nudes, on November 17th, 2017.

November 18 | The Polygon Gallery

Nearly 30-years in the making, The Polygon Gallery – formerly the Presentation House Gallery – will open its doors on North Vancouver’s waterfront at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue on Saturday, November 18th, 2017. Designed by BC’s Patkau Architects, the $20 million, 25,000-square-foot cultural facility will be the largest, photography-focused gallery in Western Canada.

November 21 | Kid Cudi

Cleveland native and American recording artist Kid Cudi is set to return to Vancouver on Tuesday, November 21st, 2017. Cudi will be performing at the PNE Forum. Moreover, the show will begin at 9:00 p.m. He was last here in Vancouver in 2013 when he performed at the Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre. Big Sean and rising rapper Logic were also on stage with him.

November 22 | Disney On Ice

Families will make unforgettable memories with Mickey, Minnie and all your Disney friends when the new ice show, Disney On Ice presents: Follow Your Heart arrives in Vancouver. It runs from Wednesday, November 22nd – Sunday, November 26th, 2017. The ice skating extravaganza features the beloved stories and characters from the smash hit animated movies Disney•Pixar’s Finding Dory and Inside Out for the first time in a live production.

November 22 | Dance in Vancouver

Vancouver’s contemporary dance scene takes centre stage in Dance In Vancouver. It takes place from Wednesday, November 22nd – Saturday, November 25th, 2017. It’s a biennial event which provides a unique opportunity to experience the energy and innovation of contemporary dance generated by local artists.

November 22 | Christmas Market

The Vancouver Christmas Market returns to Jack Poole Plaza – home of the Olympic Cauldron from Wednesday, November 22nd – Sunday, December 24th, 2017. If you circle this event every year, you’ll notice it’s even better now in the festival’s 8th year. The city’s signature yuletide celebration offers its largest festivities to date. It will feature more than 75 huts stuffed with sweets, treats, and treasures.

November 23 | H.R. MacMillan Space Centre Cosmic Nights

Which came first? Science or the science fiction? Quite often the two inspire each other and now you can explore the real science between finding extraterrestrial worlds! Cosmic Nights is back at the Space Centre on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017. Discover the wonders of the universe – over drinks! Cosmic Nights: Science of Science Fiction is a 19+ party for the space geek in all of us. November 24 | The Tenors

Canadian operatic-pop supergroup The Tenors are on tour for their upcoming holiday album Christmas Together. Tickets for the show at Queen Elizabeth Theatre start at $36.

November 25 | Hopscotch Festival

The 22nd annual Hopscotch Festival is back from Friday, November 25th and Saturday, November 26th, 2017. This festival is no longer what it used to be. It took 22 years but Hopscotch is now describes itself as an experience for the “in” that won’t be forgotten. Last year’s festival had 80 booths and less than 300 products. 2017 will see over 130 booths and 400+ products! Guests will see a larger selection of beers, whiskies, spirits and so much more. Tickets start at $37.35.

November 25 | The Polar Express Train Ride

The Polar Express Train Ride returns for another exciting year on select dates from Saturday, November 25th – Sunday, December 17th, 2017. Departing from West Coast Railway Heritage Park, hop on this magical train ride to the North Pole, while enjoying hot chocolate and cookies. Meet the Hobo, Hero Boy, Know-It-All, and the conductor as they act out parts of the movie. November 29 | Snow White & the Seven Dwarves

The East Van Panto is back with another amazing show planned for Snow White & the Seven Dwarves. It plays from Wednesday, November 29th – Saturday, January 6th, 2018 at York Theatre. In this story, you’ll see your hero flee the Queen of North Vancouver across the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge and straight into the madness of the PNE. When she arrives here, she dances with Superdogs, takes a ride on the Coaster, and befriends washed up 80s rock stars “The Seven Dwarves”.

November 30 | Zelda Symphony

The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses comes to life in Vancouver on Thursday, November 30th, 2017. It will feature an all new movement from Skyward Sword, a much-anticipated Breath of the Wild arrangement, and the return of a classic that will stir up nostalgia!
