After a rather mild fall, B.C. residents should prepare for the upcoming winter season. Lucky for them, Environment Canada has just revealed its seasonal outlook, giving a glimpse into what the country’s winter could look like in the coming months.

A General Outlook

Most predictions for Canada’s winter will be wet and mild, at least according to the Farmer’s Almanac. That means that the majority of the country will be experiencing milder averages, although some areas like Ontario will see below-average temperatures.

Snowy stretches should be expected, but places like southern B.C. may see above-normal precipitation, as well.

In general, winter this year is going to be a mixed bag, with some rain, snow, and chilly temperatures. But that’s just the average Canadian winter, so what does Environment Canada have to say about it?

Environment Canada: Winter Conditions Across The Country

Meteorologists expect, according to Environment Canada, that “the southwestern British Columbia coast will be near normal” this winter. That means you should definitely have your boots and snow shovels ready, but you shouldn’t have to worry about any freak snowstorms happening. Although, it’s important to remember that these are just predictions, and to always be prepared for any weather events that may occur.

Winter’s coldest times in B.C. are expected to be around late November, early December, and early February. While there hasn’t been any snow yet, there is still a chance that the province will see a white Christmas.
