Whether you’re prepping your winter garden or on the fence about buying a new coat, here’s what to know about B.C. weather for the upcoming Christmas and holiday season.
Winter Weather In Canada
The Old Farmer’s Almanac predicts Canada to have a “wet & mild winter” this year. Most of the country will experience milder averages, although some areas may experience some below-normal temperatures (like Ontario). Snowy stretches are also to come, but places like southern B.C. may be getting above-normal precipitation, as well.

In general, Canada’s 2025 to 2026 winter is a mixed bag. It’ll be mild and rainy, but any Canadian winter will bring snowfalls and cold snaps. You’ll definitely still need your snow shovels and a thick coat, no matter how temperate your region’s winter may be.
B.C. Snow And Rain
Predictions for B.C.’s weather this winter is fraught with rainy and snowy periods. Although, it will be a warmer-than-usual season. Its coldest times will be during late November, early December, and early February. You can expect below normal precipitation and snowfall in the north while the south will experience above normal precipitation and snowfall.
Snowfall is believed to begin from November 26-30, described as “very cold” by the Old Farmer’s Almanac. That will continue into early December with a snowstorm in the north, and rain and snow showers in the south, with frigid temperatures.

The snowiest periods will be in late November to early to mid-December, so hopefully it’ll be a white Christmas season this year. In fact, the Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting that December 12-20 will have snowy periods in the north. Only, the south will be going through a rainy period that will extend into December 21-31.
