Book lovers, listen up: Indigo is having a massive giveaway of 10,000 free books this weekend, and you could get your hands on some.

The event is part of the Annual Indigo Book Giveaway, where the book retailer shares its love of literature and reading with its customers all for free. This year’s giveaway inspiration is for books that grab you by the very first page, and all of these ones will definitely have you flipping through the entire story without stopping.
Annual Indigo Book Giveaway
On Saturday, September 12, Indigo will be giving away 10,000 copies of five books that caught Indigo’s founder and CEO’s— Heather Reisman— attention. “Each one has a story and central characters that instantly captured my attention and kept me enthralled to the very last page,” said Reisman.
In a world where algorithms are actively being designed to diminish our focus and ability to disconnect, reading time can slip away. Which is why this year’s giveaway feels especially meaningful—it is our invitation, to anyone who has drifted, to come back to the page.
This Saturday, you’ll be able to receive a free copy (while supplies last) of one of these books below from Indigo, Chapters, and Coles.
This Weekend’s Books
- The Shadow of the Wind: A captivating literary mystery set in postwar Barcelona, where a young boy discovers a forgotten book and is drawn into a story of secrets, love, and obsession.

Do note that the books are given away on a first come, first serve basis. Additionally, stores have unique quantities, and the quantities are dependent on store size. Customers will be able to receive 1 free book per adult (18+ years or older).
