The warm weather is gradually disappearing from Metro Vancouver, which means it’s time to prepare for the usual doom and gloom of fall.
This week, that autumn chill is coming in full force as Environment Canada has issued a yellow weather warning for the Metro Vancouver area.

Weather Warning in Metro Vancouver
On Monday, a rainfall warning was issued for the Howe Sound and multiple Metro Vancouver areas, applying to the following locations:
- Central, including the City of Vancouver, Burnaby and New Westminster
- North Shore, including West Vancouver and North Vancouver
- Northeast, including Coquitlam and Maple Ridge
Heavy rain is headed for Metro Vancouver from this evening to Tuesday afternoon. According to the warning, “a robust frontal system currently over the North Coast will gradually move over the Lower Mainland tonight, with heavy rain beginning this evening. ”
Around 50 to 70mm of rainfall is expected. The frontal system will also bring strong and gusty southeasterly winds overnight and Tuesday morning.
And with any heavy rain, water is likely to pool on rods and in low-lying areas. This can lead to significant impacts on rush hour traffic, so be sure to plan ahead and around the weather. Environment Canada also notes that you should look out for washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.
