One lucky B.C. man is the winner of the ultimate holiday gift: the $31-million Lotto Max Jackpot.
The B.C. Lotto Max Winner
Hailing from Kelowna, Ingo Abresch is the recipient of the Lotto Max draw on September 23, 2025. He found out about the win when he was at work.
“I looked at my account and saw a big number in the right corner. I clicked on the ticket, and the song rang,” said Abresch. “I was dumbfounded, there were lots of zeros!”
The next thing anyone does when they win a bunch of money is tell the person closest to them. Abresch called his partner after he discovered the life-changing win. Although, she wasn’t quite convinced. According to Abresch, “[she] was hugely skeptical about it. Even when I phoned her, she had to ask who was calling – she thought it was a scam.”

Abresch has said that the win feels surreal and unbelievable. He also said that while the win will make retirement far easier, he won’t be changing his lifestyle. Besides travelling some more and not worrying so much while dining out, he plans on keeping things the same.
Other Big B.C. Wins
In just 2025, many people in B.C. have won some major lotto prizes. Just recently, a winning $46-million ticket was sold in Quesnel, B.C., and is still waiting to be claimed! Moreover, a Metro Vancouver couple won $500,000 after purchasing a ticket on a whim during a shopping trip together.
Another big win came from one Metro Vancouver man who claimed his $1-million prize, saying in his interview that all his son had to say about it was a funny little request. Other notable wins include B.C.’s biggest jackpot ever that was cashed in at $80 million, and a Vancouver resident who netted $40 million with his ticket.
If you’re feeling lucky, remember to know your limit, play within it.
