One Metro Vancouver resident is a million dollars richer after winning September 5’s Lotto Max draw. He shared the news first with his son, who had only one request from his dad.

AN INTERESTING REQUEST

Richmond’s Jung-Chien Cheng found out about his win after using his BCLC Lotto app while at home. On the moment he found out, Cheng said, ”I wasn’t thinking anything; my mind was empty for a few seconds and then I saw the million and thought, ‘this is good, this is great!’”

After finding out about his win, he went to share the fantastic news with his son. Funnily enough, his son had only one thing to say to his dad:

“He reacted by saying, ‘I want to buy minecraft.’”

Aside from his son’s request, Cheng is now taking some time to decide what’s up next for him. Although, he does plan to pay off his mortgage with his winnings.

Cheng says that he’s excited about the win. “I can breathe easier,” he said.

LOTTO MAX WINNERS

A number of B.C. residents have won some huge lottery prizes so far this year. This includes a Surrey man’s record-breaking prize of $80 million, giving him the title of the biggest lottery jackpot winner ever in the province. Moreover, a Kamloops man recently won B.C.’s largest Scratch & Win prize at $5 million.

A Vancouver man also won $40 million after he picked up some lottery tickets. After nearly forgetting to check them, he finally got to see all those zeroes he almost missed out on.

B.C. lottery players have already redeemed over $163 million in Lotto Max prizes. Draws are done twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays after 7:30pm, so there’s still time to get your ticket before the next one.

The next Lotto Max draw is on September 12. And as always: know your limit, play within it.
