A Kamloops man has just shattered a record in British Columbia after winning the largest Scratch & Win prize ever in the province.

Toni Matic purchased a $50 Extreme scratch ticket from the 7-Eleven on Summit Drive. This national ticket can net purchasers a top prize of $5 million, along with over $200 million lower-level prizes. While those prizes include numbers from $100 to $500, it’s that big $5 million that everyone has their eyes on.

And Toni Matic was the recent lucky winner of said $5 million. When he won, he thought to himself, “Are those numbers really that big?”

Following his win was a call to his mother, alongside many joyful tears.

There have been a number of huge lottery winners in B.C. so far this year, such as a Vancouver man’s $40 million win after almost forgetting to check his ticket after buying it. A Surrey man also won the biggest lottery jackpot in British Columbia’s history recently, netting him a whopping $80 million.

2025 has already seen over $105 million $50 Extreme Scratch & Win prize tickets redeemed. For Toni Matic, his big-ticket win has been “life-changing.”
