604 Now Interview With Carol Cox

We have continued our search for local talent in the 604 and have come across a beautiful Goddess who goes by CC. This half Irish half Indian Spitfire grew up in the diverse melting pot of Dubai before moving to the 604 fifteen years ago. Ever since she could walk, she can remember weaving music unmistakably, unapologetically and irrevocably into her colourful life.

We had the opportunity to work with Carol Cox at Cram Jam 2012, where she opened up for international icon Jay Sean in front of thousands in Surrey. Carol is highly dedicated to her craft and carries an amazing personality, definitely keep an eye out for this super star!

We recently caught up with CC to get a insight into her career and creativity. Our questions are in bold with CC’s answers right below.

1. We know from working with you in the past that you’re a very spiritual person—both in your life and in your art. How does your spirituality help your music?

That’s a great question 604Now! Spirituality is an inherent part of me, as it is with everyone on this plane of existence. Whether they choose to acknowledge it or not in this lifetime, well that’s another subject. Meditation and connecting with Universe on a daily basis, helps me access my soul’s essence and divine creativity, which is expressed through song. When I am aligned in body, mind and spirit, I find that my inspiration is through the roof! I’m able to flow through melodies and lyrics that are just pure, honest and from a truly soulful place.

2. Besides singing, where else does your creativity take form?

I’m just a very creative soul in general! Well we are all creative beings but I just hand over the reigns to that part of myself 24/7. I adore the arts and all the forms it takes. I love dancing so I express myself through that often. I used to do everything from ballet to jazz to hip hop when I was younger. I love cooking too! I don’t get to practice that art form as often as I would like *laughs*. Music is a hard taskmaster but I enjoy it when I can. I delight in acting and I’ve explored that art form for the last decade. To convey the depths of emotion through any art form be it music, writing, acting, painting, the list is endless; I think that is a gift from the Divine.. And should be expressed as often as possible. Creating art is also therapy, heals and soothes the soul.

3. What has been your favorite career experience thus far?

My favorite career experience so far would be meeting with Ellen Degeneres. She is such a bright light! Spiritual, philanthropic, kind and using her Lifepath to create so much change. It was an honor and privilege to be in her presence, humbling..

4. If you weren’t singing, what would you be doing?

Dying *laughs* Sorry but I can only be authentic and music is my life. It is like oxygen to me, I can’t imagine doing anything else for a Lifepath. But if you force me to answer *grin* I’d say becoming a business tycoon so I could start all the charities, causes and philanthropic organizations I want to. That’s part of my destiny as well, to be of service to Gaia and all her children. To affect great change and spread the message of love and light far and wide, takes power.

5. Is there any other artist you want to reach out and work with?

I would love to work with Lady Gaga, I just performed at her Official Born this Way Ball World Tour Afterparty *laughs* that’s a mouthful and a half! I think she is an incredible singer songwriter but more than that, I very much resonate with how loving she is. She is the epitome of positive energy and preaches the message of love and compassion. That’s important to me and creating with someone like that? Could only result in musical magick! I also am a huge fan of Bryan Adams, he is such a legend and I hope to one day have the privilege of creating with him.. Make it happen Universe!

6. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?

I actually write in all genres of music so I do dabble in rnb, house, pop, rock.. It’s just my style right now is world pop/folk.. The genre that uses real instruments. But there’s always different influences threaded throughout the music that G(my songwriting partner Graham Gomez) and I create.

7. Where do you see yourself one year from now?

One year from now, I see myself touring the world and spreading the message of love, compassion and universal brother/sisterhood through my music. Aka following my Lifepath.

8. Quotes you live by?

There are just so many but I will leave you with three.. The first one is my own.. “We are only here to do two things: Love and Be of Service.” The second one is by Roald Dahl: “‘A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly. You can have a wonky nose and a crooked mouth and a double chin, but if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” And the third is an old Latin saying by someone anonymous: “”Ad astra per aspera(translate “To the stars through adversity”)

9. Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

Well my first music video “Would You” was just released on January 20th and the 21st(my birthday WOO!) so I’d love to invite everyone reading this, to have a listen and if it resonates, to share the video. You’ll be able to check it out on the ‘Carol Cox Music’ Page on Facebook. Or follow CC_Goddess via Twitter to see the updates. Sending everyone Love and Light.. Be blessed darlings and may 2013 be a prosperous, happy and exciting year for everyone. Just remember to keep positive, your intentions focused and it will be;) Namaste!
