These places are known for their charm, scenic views, and rich history. They’re places that are worth a standalone visit all on their own.

WORLD’S BEST SMALL CITY

On Tuesday, U.S. Condé Nast Traveler’s 38th annual Readers’ Choice Awards was released. Among the latest edition of the “best cities in the world” list was named one very special B.C. spot.

Victoria was crowned the world’s best small city in this list. For three years, B.C.’s capital has earned CN Traveler’s top rank. This truly marks it as a world-class vacation and day-trip destination. Moreover, it beat out places like Florence and Puerto Vallarta!

Although Victoria is a great place for a day-trip, CN Traveler also notes that it’s deserving of a visit all on its own. The publication says that its historic hotels and scenic ferry ride across Swartz Bay are some of the things that make Victoria such an amazing place to be. And it seems that the readers agreed.

Cities are ranked on reader scores in categories like sights, food, shopping, vibes, and friendliness. This means that Victoria surged past all the other cities in every single category, granting it that top spot.

WORLD’S BEST BIG CITY

It may not have taken the top spot, but being in the top 10 is pretty good. Named among CN Traveler’s world’s best big cities is Vancouver, taking the 7th spot.

Described as having a “competitive and creative arts scene, rugged natural beauty, and no shortage of things to do”, Vancouver is replete with diversity in every aspect. Whether it’s food, activities, or just the community, CN Traveler says that “there’s something wonderful about visiting a city where you can be in the heart of a metropolis, eating a five-star meal one day and enjoying the skyline from the seat of a kayak the next.”

No matter if you’re looking for small city charm or big city vibes, B.C. truly has it all.
