A Courteney man didn’t want to disappoint Santa Claus Parade goers, so he dressed up as another man in red for “pictures with Satan.”

Tim Miller showed up to Courtenay’s Santa Claus parade over the weekend, donning red makeup and horns, after a typo in a local newspaper.

The paper had accidentally written “pictures with Satan,” rather than “Santa.” Comox Valley Record has since apologized, but the incident still got international attention.

Miller wore a Santa suit along with his fake nails and horns. He also held a sign that said, “Hell froze over, so I moved to the Comox Valley instead.”

Throughout the parade, many of its residents took photos with the Man in Red.

Publisher Keith Currie of the Comox Valley Record commented on the typo to CTV News.

“The whole world I think knows by now that there’s a Santa Claus parade happening in Courtenay this weekend,” he said last week. “People understand, people are getting a laugh out of it.”
