20 Movies Filming in Vancouver This September

What do Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Steve Carell and Vince Vaughn have in common? They’re all filming some pretty big movies in Vancouver this September! Other Hollywood stars in town this month include Mel Gibson, Neve Campbell, Leslie Mann, Josh Brolin, Viggo Mortensen, Don Johnson and Vancouver’s very own Ryan Reynolds.

In total, there are at least 20 movies scheduled for production in Hollywood North throughout September 2017. The BC film industry can look forward to shooting 9 feature films, 10 television movies-of-the-week (MOW’s aka TV Movies) and 1 digital feature.

Deadpool 2

The sequel to the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time is underway in Vancouver and looks to make more of the city famous like it did the Georgia viaduct and Number 5 Orange. Production has been spotted around town all summer for big action scenes. There was also a fatal accident on set during a stunt in Coal Harbour.

“Untitled Disney Santa Claus movie”

It’ll be Christmas in October for Vancouver as Anna Kendrick and Bill Hader are set to star in an untitled Santa Claus movie. Kendrick will play Santa’s daughter, Nicole Claus, who has to take over the reins (and reindeer) as old Saint Nick retires.  Marc Lawrence, known for Miss Congeniality and Did You Hear About the Morgans? is the writer and director for the “Nicole” project.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile

Zac Efron of High School Musical fame is set to star in this thriller which chronicles the crimes of infamous American serial killer Ted Bundy. The story is told from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend who was in denial about him for years. Ted Bundy confessed to 30 homicides across seven states between 1974 and 1978. In addition to being a serial killer he was also a kidnapper, rapist, burglar and necrophile. He targeted young women and girls and was executed by electrocution.
