The Vancouver-filmed Deadpool has officially become the number one highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
Starring Vancouver’s very own Ryan Reynolds—the movie has taken the world by storm.
It knocked the 2003 sci-fi flick The Matrix Reloaded from number one—a spot it held for well over a decade.
Deadpool brought in a total of $745 million in box office receipts, while The Matrix Reloaded had $742 million in receipts.
The success of Deadpool has brought in a wave of predictions that the future will bring lots of other comic book movies aimed for an adult audience.
The film first hit the big screen on February 12th and has been a big hit since. It earned $152.2 million during its opening weekend alone.
