The hardest working man in Hollywood and world’s highest paid actor is set to film his next action blockbuster in Vancouver. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shoots the China-set 3D action flick Skyscraper in town from August 14 – November 17, 2017 (scheduled).

Some of the cast for Skyscraper has been revealed including two Canadians. Johnson co-stars with Neve Campbell, Chin Han as well as BC-born Pablo Schreiber. Comedy-gold director Rawson Marshall Thurber is attached to the project and is most known for DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story, Easy A and Central Intelligence. Johnson plays a disabled veteran who has to rescue his entire family from a burning building. Talk about an Inferno.

Canadian actress Neve Campbell entered most of our homes on the small screen as Julia Salinger in the hit teen family drama Party of Five in the 90’s. She has also dominated the horror film genre with the Scream franchise.

Since then she’s appeared on hit TV shows like Mad Men and House of Cards. Campbell is 43 years old and hails from Guelph, Ontario.

Canadian-American actor Pablo Tell Schreiber is the half-brother Hollywood A-lister Liev Schreiber who stars in the hit family crime drama series Ray Donovan which is in its fifth season.

Pablo on the other hand is most recently known for his roles in Orange is the New Black and American Gods. He is 39 years old and was born in Ymir, British Columbia.

Fun fact: Neve Campbell starred with Liev Schreiber in three Scream films and now stars with his half-brother Pablo Schreiber in Skyscraper.

Singaporean actor Ng Chin Han is known for his role of Lau in The Dark Knight and Togusa in the Hollywood-adaptation of Ghost in the Schell starring Scarlett Johannson. He is 47 years old and was born in Singapore.

Earlier this year he wrapped up filming for the highly anticipated sequel Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle which also stars Jack Black, Kevin Hart, Nick Jonas and Karen Gillan. It is scheduled to be released on December 20, 2017. He starred alongside Kevin Hart in last year’s breakout comedy Central Intelligence. It will be the third movie we see Rocky in on the big screen this year after this spring’s mega box office success The Fate of the Furious, the eight installment in the franchise and his fourth overall.

He also starred in this summer’s comedy Baywatch which received a mixed reception. The cast included Zac Efron and Priyanka Chopra. The movie was produced by his own company Seven Bucks Production which he started with his ex-wife Dany Garcia.

In between staring in movies he also produces content for his YouTube channel through his production company’s digital studio arm. He’s also stars in a hit TV show on HBO called Ballers from Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg (Entourage). Season 3 premiered this July.

This year he’s also been working on the movies Rampage with Naomi Harris and Fighting with My Family which are now both in post production. Announcements have already been made for some of his next projects including The Janson Directive, San Andreas 2, Jungle Cruise, Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon, Doc Savage and Black Adam. In addition, he is also rumoured for Big Trouble in Little China.

Pre-production for Skyscraper is underway:

Skyscraper will be the third major production in Vancouver for Johnson. He was in town for 2004’s Walking Tall which also starred Johnny Knoxville and Ashley Scott, it filmed in both British Columbia and Washington state.

Then there was his 2010 family comedy movie Tooth Fairy with Destiny Whitlock and Ashley Judd. Skyscraper is scheduled to premiere in theatres next summer on July 13, 2018.

Oh and he also just released a theatrical ad with Apple which was more like an actual movie:
