The results are in, and according to The Globe and Mail, six Metro Vancouver cities are among the top ‘most livable‘ locations in Canada.

To those from Metro Vancouver, the results of which exact cities made the list may prove surprising. But The Globe and Mail notes that their goal was “to move beyond the typical discussion of housing prices and real estate markets and ask: What actually makes a place good to live?”

Livability

It might seem ironic that parts of Metro Vancouver are considered to have some of Canada’s ‘most livable’ cities. Those who reside there will most likely think of the housing prices, grocery expenses, gas, childcare, and many other factors that make it not very livable.

The Globe and Mail says that ” livability is not one-size-fits-all.” For their ranking, they used a number of factors that included economy, housing, demographics, health care, safety education, community, amenities, transportation and climate. It is important to note that no community is perfect, and that some top-ranked cities will score quite low in certain sections. But altogether, they rank higher than others based on the factors used.

“When considering a move to a new city, it’s understandable that you have many factors on your mind. This decision is deeply personal, but looking at a city’s livability ranking may provide some reassurance and guidance as you navigate this important choice.”
