Suspicious Shuswap and Kelowna Fires
Three ditch fires were found on Wednesday around 5:30pm, which are now also being investigated by the RCMP. Reportedly, the fires were spaced about 100 metres apart from one another, and are described as suspicious. Two additional fires were reported in the Anglemont Estates area as fire crews attended the scene.
On the same day and around the same time, several small fires were discovered at Gopher Creek at Linear Park. Thankfully, nearby residents and park goers noticed the fires and extinguished them while also contacting the Kelowna Fire Department. Now, Kelowna RCMP are looking into the incident, asking if anyone observed suspicious or unusual activity in the park, or the areas of Gallagher Road or Lynrick Road, during the afternoon on August 5.
Likewise, if you have any relevant dashcam footage of the area between 3:00pm and 6:00pm, the Kelowna RCMP ask you to contact them at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2026-50091.
