Summertime in Metro Vancouver means that the city is getting tons of free, amazing events that feature a crowd-favourite activity: firework watching! There truly isn’t anything else like looking up at the sky on a warm summer night and being dazzled by all the amazing colours.
We’ve compiled a list of 5 free summer events that you can watch fireworks at. Even though the fireworks are the star of the show, there’s plenty to do and see at the events until nighttime sets in!
CANADA DAY FIREWORKS
Canada Day is one of the few days of the year where fireworks are expected– because what’s a celebration like Canada Day without a beautiful spectacle in the sky?
Practically the entire Lower Mainland will be celebrating Canada Day with their own festivities. This includes Abbotsford, Burnaby, Coquitlam, Delta, Port Coquitlam, Surrey, and White Rock. These major events are all capped off with some beautiful fireworks at the end of the night.

HONDA CELEBRATION OF LIGHT
Returning to English Bay is the massive summer party: Honda Celebration of Light. With over a million people regularly attending, this is one fireworks show you don’t want to miss.
This firework competition pits a lineup of pyrotechnic teams that will be vying for the crowd’s adoration and applause. Expect fireworks choreographed to music and some spectacular displays in the sky.
Aside from this, there will also be live entertainment, food trucks, and beaches packed from Kits to the West End. The Honda Celebration of Light will be happening on July 19, 23, and 26.

WHITE ROCK SEA FESTIVAL & SEMIAHMOO DAYS
Taking place during the BC Day Long Weekend is the White Rock Sea Festival & Semiahmoo Days! These festivals offers everything a festival should: outdoor concerts, a vendor market, and plenty of family-friendly activities. The festivities take place over 3 days from August 1-3.
The much-loved Torchlight Parade will be taking place on August 2, with the fireworks ending the festivities with a boom on August 3 at approximately 10:15pm. The festivals take place along the White Rock waterfront, from the end of East Beach to West Beach.

VANCOUVER CANADIANS FIREWORKS NIGHTS
If you like baseball, then you’ll really love these firework events. The Vancouver Canadians are a minor league baseball team with their home games taking place at Nat Bailey Stadium. A number of their home games are themed as Fireworks Extravaganza.
You’ll be able to watch a local baseball team as well as some fireworks. There are 9 total nights you can see these firework nights:

SUMMER MUSIC & FIREWORKS FESTIVAL
New Westminster is host to a ton of great festivals, including the Summer Music & Fireworks Festival. This is a family-friendly event that features all sorts of fun activities, such as a market, live entertainment, and those ever-exciting fireworks.
This free festival will have its fireworks toward the end of the night. Running from 3:00pm to 10:00pm on August 23, 2025, you’ll want to head over to Westminster Quay along Quayside Drive for the festivities.
