Transport Canada has just issued multiple recalls regarding a number of SUVs and trucks that are at an increased risk for crash due to manufacturing and software issues. Altogether, the recalls make up over 30,000 vehicles in total.
Transport Canada Recall
Ford

This recall concerns 20,521 Ford brand vehicles, on which certain cars are having issues with its hinge covers for the liftgate.
“On certain vehicles, the hinge covers for the liftgate may not have been properly attached. As a result, the cover(s) could loosen and detach from the vehicle,” reads the notice. The detached parts could create a hazard for others, and thus increase the risk of a crash.
Transport Canada notes that Ford will be notifying owners by mail. They are advised to take their vehicles to a dealership to inspect and secure, or replace, the liftgate hinge covers as necessary.

RAM

The other recall concerns 9,842 RAM brand vehicles, with the issue cited as a software problem not displaying the instrument panel cluster screen when the vehicle starts or when driving. “If this happens, you may not be able to see certain information about the vehicle, including the gear selection, warnings, and tell-tales.”
It is important to note that this recall affects only vehicles equipped with a 12” instrument panel cluster.
“Warnings, tell-tales and gear selection indicators that don’t display could increase the risk of a crash.”
FCA Canada will be notifying owners, and advising them to take their vehicle to a dealership to update or replace the instrument panel cluster as necessary.
