Vancouver is about to get a whole lot busier in the evenings as the Honda Celebration of Light event nights are coming up. With everyone heading to their go-to spots to watch the firework competition go down, the roads are going to be flooded with cars trying to get their way there.
Luckily for those of you who use transit, TransLink is adding extra services for the nights that the Celebration of Light is happening on so you can get to your watching spots at a reasonable time.

A BOOST IN TRANSIT
“TransLink is boosting transit service and adjusting some bus routes to help customers get to and from the Honda Celebration of Light fireworks nights in downtown Vancouver,” wrote TransLink in a statement.
Bus service changes will be in effect on July 19, 23, and 26. Here’s what you can expect if you’re hopping onto a bus on any of those days:
- Pre-event shuttles will be running from Burrard Station to the intersection of Denman Street and West Georgia Street (6:30pm – 9:30pm)
- Post-event shuttles will be running from the intersection of Bidwell Street and West Georgia Street
- Post-event shuttles to West and North Vancouver will be running from the intersection of West Georgia Street and Denman Street

Customers can expect to be dropped off at the intersection of Burrard Street and West Georgia Street near Burrard Station, and then Waterfront Station.
Street closures will also be in effect, so routes 5, 6 (5:00pm – midnight), and 23 (8:00am – midnight) will be rerouted.
SKYTRAIN, SEABUS, AND WEST COAST EXPRESS
As for SkyTrains, they will be operating every two to three minutes before and after the fireworks on each night. Do note that entrance access will be modified at Burrard, Granville, and Waterfront stations due to potential crowding. Bikes will also not be permitted on the SkyTrain after 10:30pm– again, due to crowds.

If the SeaBus is your transit of choice, then sailings will be happening every 15 minutes, with them being extended from 9:00pm until the last sailing at 1:22am on July 23. July 19 and 26 will see time extensions from 9:30pm instead.
July 19 and 26 will additionally have sailings every 10 minutes from 1:00pm to 9:30pm.
And as for the West Coast Express, a special train will be in operation on July 26. It will leave Mission City Station at 7:00pm and arrive at Waterfront Station at 8:15pm. To return, just be sure to be back at Waterfront Station at 11:00pm for boarding as the train will leave at midnight.
Be sure to plan for extra travel time if you’re heading out to check out the Honda Celebration of Lights this summer. Expect crowds and wait times no matter how you’re heading into the city!
