Burn Hazard Triggers Recall Of 1.46M Toaster Ovens Across Canada And U.S.

A massive recall for toaster ovens has just been updated with additional affected units as Health Canada urges consumers to immediately stop using the product due to a potential burn hazard. The recall was first published on September 25, but has since been expanded as further units have been added.

Toaster Oven Recall Across Canada

The recall concerns Oster French Door Toaster Countertop Ovens, with the cited issue being that the doors can unexpectedly close. This poses a burn hazard to consumers.

170, 560 units were sold in Canada, and 1,1290,000 were sold in the U.S. from January 2015 to July 2025.

“As of December 4, 2025, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 95 reports of the doors unexpectedly closing and resulting in burn injuries and 2 reports of a second-degree burn,” says the notice.

The affected units include model numbers:

  • TSSTTVFDXL
  • TSSTTVFDDGDS
  • TSSTTVFDDG-033
  • TSSTTVFDXLPP-033
  • TSSTTVFDDAF-033

The products have a spring-loaded bilateral “French door” that is made of glass with metal handles. They also differ in cooking options, with the word “Oster” engraved on the front bottom right of the oven. You can find the model number on the backside of the oven, as well as on the original packaging.

Consumers are being advised to immediately stop using the recalled product. They can contact Sunbeam Products Inc. to arrange to obtain a free repair kit, which comes with installation instructions.
