Craving homestyle Japanese cuisine with a twist? Look no further. Oka-San Kitchen in Vancouver’s Fraserhood neighbourhood is so much more than your typical sushi joint.
Yes, they whip up some incredibly fresh and authentic sushi, but they also have Hawaiian dishes, Japanese beef curry and a musubi bar.

If you haven’t had musubi, it’s a popular Hawaiian snack consisting of grilled Spam on top of a block of rice and wrapped together with nori.
Other menu items include: Honolulu-style poke, chicken karage, gyoza ramen, chicken curry udon, masago spaghetti and pulled pork teriyaki. Of course, they have you covered on all your sushi and sashimi needs too.
But you have to save room for dessert, because they have some to-die-for options. They offer homemade mini butter mochi cakes, assorted mochi ice cream, mango cheesecake and more.
Oka-San Kitchen is best known for its variety of eats, while keeping all their dishes as authentic (and delicious) as possible.
They offer both dine-in and take-out service.
