Flurries In The Forecast For Metro Vancouver

The past few days in Metro Vancouver have been overcome by heavy rainfall and intense winds, resulting in severe flooding in regions like Abbotsford. You can blame the atmospheric rivers for that one, as well as the flooding Nooksack River in Washington that has led to Abbotsford once again being doused in more water than it can handle.

But this heavy period of rain will change soon enough. Environment Canada is predicting a drop in temperatures, which will bring about a chance of rain showers and flurries.

This is due to arctic air entering B.C.’s Central Interior, leading to temperatures decreasing throughout the Lower Mainland. As the atmospheric rivers begin to taper off, seasonal averages are just around the corner as Metro Vancouver begins to get colder for winter.

A Chance Of Snow

Most areas of Metro Vancouver are expected to be hit by flurries and rain showers beginning on Saturday, December 20 that will last throughout the weekend. At a low of plus 1, the nights are about to get a whole lot more frigid.

Although, Abbotsford will be seeing more than just flurries on December 20. Instead, the region will be hit with periods of rain or snow, with a similar low of plus 1 that night. Following that, Environment Canada predicts a 60% chance of flurries or rain showers during rest of the weekend.
