One Metro Vancouver couple is $500,000 richer after they won the Lotto Max draw.
The ticket was purchased on a whim, but they never could have expected what would happen when they scanned it at home.
Metro Vancouver Lotto Max Draw Prize Winners
On a shopping trip together, couple Sang Eun Lee and Myung Jun Kim decided that they could buy a lottery ticket. There was no reason for it– the purchase was a complete spur-of-the-moment decision that would ultimately lead them to their win.
“I was at home when I scanned the ticket on the [BCLC Lotto!] app and saw it was a winner,” said Lee. “I didn’t believe my eyes. My husband was at the gym and I had him come home to show him.”
They had just won the $500,000 Extra prize from the October 21, 2025 Lotto Max draw.
While the Port Coquitlam couple is a couple hundred thousand dollars richer, they’re taking some time to decide on what comes next. “We are trying to stay calm and make good decisions. No big purchases right away,” said Kim. Lee said that the win has given them more freedom of choice.
If you’re wondering where the ticket was bought from, it was at a lotto kiosk inside Coquitlam Centre in Coquitlam.
Other B.C. Winners
As of now, more than $42 million in winnings from the Extra have been redeemed by B.C. lottery players. Moreover, more than $232 million has been won from Lotto Max.
2025 has been filled with notable Metro Vancouver Lotto Max winners, such as B.C.’s biggest jackpot ever that was cashed in at $80 million, and a Vancouver resident who netted $40 million with his ticket.
