Friday, January 21

Skating | Robson Square Ice Rink

The Robson Square Ice Rink is open this weekend and will host free skates daily until Wednesday, February 28th, 2018. Skating is free for all ages. Those who own their own skates are welcome to use them. Skate rentals are $4, and rentals end 30 minutes before closing time. Furthermore, helmets are mandatory for children 12 and under. Robson Square Ice Rink will offer rentals and accept cash only.

Lanterns | Vancouver Chinese Lantern Festival

The Vancouver Chinese Lantern Festival will light up the skies of Vancouver with dozens of spectacular gossamer lanterns. It takes place at the PNE Grounds this weekend until Sunday, January 21st, 2018.

Being the largest festival of its kind in Canada, guests can expect to see 35 illuminated displays transforming over 14 acres of Hastings Park into an explosion of light and colours.

Canyon Lights is taking until Sunday, January 28th, 2018. The suspension bridge, Treetops Adventure, Cliffwalk, the rainforest and canyon are being transformed into a world of festive lights and visual enchantment. Guests will also get to see the tallest Christmas tree in the world!

Exhibition | The Fabric of Our Land

The Museum of Anthropology (MOA) at UBC with the Musqueam Indian Band present the remarkable new exhibition The Fabric of Our Land: Salish Weaving. It’s on display from Sunday, November 19th – Sunday, April 15th, 2018. Curated by Susan Rowley in collaboration with Salish weavers, this exhibition takes visitors on a journey through the past 200 years of Salish wool weaving.

Exhibition | City on Edge

The Museum of Vancouver (MOV) explores the history of our city’s street protests with City on Edge: A Century of Vancouver Activism. It’s a major, new photo-based exhibition on display until Sunday, February 18th, 2018.

Outdoor lights | Lights at Lafarge

Lights at Lafarge, a display of over 100,000 Christmas lights returned to Coquitlam on Saturday, November 25th, 2017. The route will take visitors through a dazzling 1.2 kilometres of festive lights with ten themed zones. This family-friendly event is free to attend throughout the weekend and is located near the Lafarge Lake SkyTrain station.

Performance | Hot Brown Honey

Hot Brown Honey turns up the heat, delivering lashings of sass and a hot pinch of empowerment in the smash-hit that took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm. Packing a punch of hip hop politics, the Honeys will make you laugh, cry, clap and shake what your mama gave you.

Arts | PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

The 2018 PuSh International Performing Arts Festival presents groundbreaking theatre, dance, music, multimedia and film. Catch it all at Vancouver venues from Tuesday, January 16th – Sunday, February 4th, 2018. Featuring artists from 11 countries, the 14th annual PuSh Festival showcases thought-provoking works from the intimate and immersive, to the monumental and spectacular.

Composed of Daniel Daley and Nineteen85, the Toronto duo has put together an impressive career together to date. DVSN has collaborated with Drake, Future, and many other artists.

January 22 | Street Food City

The seventh annual Street Food City, Dine Out Vancouver Festival’s cheap n’ cheerful ‘food truck pod’ takes place from Monday, January 22nd – Sunday, January 28th, 2018. Visitors can enjoy tasty bites from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. weekdays and 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the weekend, at the Vancouver Art Gallery’s newly renovated plaza.

January 22 | Shred For The Cause

Mt Seymour’s popular Shred For The Cause fundraiser is back again beginning Monday, January 22nd, 2018. Previously known as “Shred for the Cure”, the event supports The Bloom Group, a local non-profit organization that helps the most vulnerable citizens of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

Every Monday from January 22nd to March 26th, ladies pay a $15 donation to ski and ride from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. $5 from every lift ticket will be going to The Bloom Group. Normal prices range from $18 – $33.

January 24 | Adam Sandler

The super-talented and hilarious Adam Sandler will be performing live in Vancouver on Wednesday, January 24th, 2018. His show takes place at Orpheum Theatre alongside surprise special guests. Sandler’s films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide and include box office hits such as “Grown Ups,” “Just Go With It,” “Bedtime Stories,” “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan,” and “The Longest Yard”.
