If your first instinct is to head for the self-serve aisle, then you’ll love these stores.

This 24-hour grocery store is entirely self-serve, featuring absolutely no cashiers. It’s a store with nobody but customers, open around the clock, and it’s always fully stocked with all the goods you’d need.

THE SELF-SERVE STORE EXPERIENCE

First founded in 2015, Aisle 24 launched their debut store in Ontario. It has since expanded into several neighbourhoods, as well as other provinces.

The entire self-serve process is managed by an app. As expected, there are no cashiers and is wholly unattended. Getting into the store is as easy as downloading an app and then creating an account, which acts as a key into the Aisle 24. Customers can then begin their shopping experience. No small talk necessary!

Security systems are in place to control theft and track inventory. With digital tags placed on every product, items are updated electronically so that everything is accounted for. AI and facial recognition systems are also used to prevent theft.

Aisle 24 stores are open 24/7 and carry average convenience store goods such as snack food, health products, baked goods, deli items, produce, frozen foods, some fresh foods, select household items and beverages. Once customers have picked out whatever they need, they can then pay exactly as they would in a self-serve checkout.

AISLE 24 NEW METRO VANCOUVER LOCATIONS

Several new stores are being planned for B.C., with many of them being in Metro Vancouver. As of now, their one Vancouver location is at Landmark on Robson at 1450 Robson Street.

There is currently a location in development in Richmond, placed near Richmond Hospital and by the Cascade towers. Aisle 24 also has plans to expand into Burnaby, Coquitlam, and Surrey as they continue to grow in the years to come.
