The world loves British Columbia.
According to provincial statistics, for the first time on record, the BC population has surpassed five million people!

According to the report, a huge majority (95 per cent) of that growth was because of international immigration.
Last year, from the beginning of July to beginning of October the population grew dramatically by with an additional 24,635 people. That’s the most growth the province has seen since 2016.
The population change also took into account the difference between the number of births and the number of deaths, or natural change. Last quarter, there was a natural increase of births (2,430) that made up for the rise, adding more people to the mix.
Overall, BC’s population grew by 0.49%.
It wasn’t just BC that saw growth. Across Canada, the national population increased by about 183,715 people making the grant total of people living in Canada: 37,242,571.
