Japanese pastries and desserts are all the rage right now. Whether its Japanese Cheesecake, Souffle Pancakes or Melonpan, Vancouverites can’t seem to get enough.

Baker & Table Cafe is a Japanese bakery on Fraser Street known for their Melonpan especially. Melonpan is a sweet bun from Japan, but it’s also extremely popular in China and Taiwan. The buns look just like a rock melon, hence its name.

They’re made using an enriched dough which is covered in a thin layer of cookie dough. Maker & Table Cafe has an array of Mochi Melonpan offerings, including Vanilla Bean, Black Sesame, Matcha, Kabocha (Japanese pumpkin cream) and Mochi Ube (purple yam).
