Transport Canada has issued a recent recall for Toyota vehicles sold across Canada due to manufacturing issues.
According to the notice, these issues can lead to an increased risk of injury in a crash.

Toyota Highlander Recall in Canada
The recall concerns Highlander and Highlander Hybrid model Toyota vehicles sold in Canada, with the years 2021 to 2025 being affected. A total of 52,750 vehicles are included in the recall.
The notice states, “on certain vehicles, the seatback recliners for the second-row seats may not have been manufactured properly. As a result, the seatback(s) may not lock in position and could move in a crash.” These issues could increase the injury of a crash.
Notably, this recall replaces Transport Canada recall No. 2026-101.
What to Do
For those with an affected vehicle, Toyota recommends not using the second-row seats to transport passengers until the recall repairs have bene completed.
Toyota will be notifying owners by mail. They will advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the spring in the second-row seatback recliner assembles.
