12 Movies & TV Shows That Filmed at The Vancouver Aquarium

The Vancouver Aquarium Marine Science Centre first opened its doors back in 1956. The aquarium located in Stanley Park conducts marine research, conservationist and rehabilitation in addition to being a major tourist attraction for the city. In 2018, the facility announced it would no longer house dolphins and whales.

MacGyver

No, not the CBS reboot that started in 2016, but the original MacGyver series from the late 80’s that introduced Angus “Mac” MacGyver to the world. The first two seasons and final season shot in California while seasons 3 to 6 shot in and around Vancouver as well at a studio in Burnaby.

Episode 11 of Season 4 titled “The Battle of Tommy Giordano” utilized the Vancouver Art Gallery and the Vancouver Aquarium.

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency

Vancouver played Seattle in the first season and Montana in the second season of this BBC America sci-fi show.

Danger Bay

Canadian family-adventure series Danger Bay ran for 123 episodes and featured the Vancouver Aquarium in most of them. It followed a marine biologist and his family fighting environmental issues.
