Last year, a video surfaced that narrowed down the timeline of Marrisa Shen’s homicide, the 13-year old girl that was found dead in Burnaby Central Park.

Now, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has confirmed that 28-year-old Ibrahim Ali is guilty of the 1st degree murder of Marrisa Shen. He is accused of killing her on July 18th, 2017.

The young girl was last seen on July 18th near Central Boulevard and McKay Avenue just after 7:30 p.m. Prior to this latest video she was last seen leaving her home at 6 p.m.

By April, authorities had received over 200 tips related to her death. The team confirmed that the case is its largest to date, involving over 600 interviews as well as 2,000 persons of interest.

According to investigators, the murder is considered a “random act.” In other words, they do not believe that either party knew each other prior to the incident.

Ibrahim Ali did not have a criminal record prior to the case and was not known to police.

He was remanded into custody on Saturday, September 8th.
