Transport Canada has just issued two recalls, totalling over 300,000 Ford vehicles that all have issues that can lead to an increased risk of fire. Owners are currently being advised on the next steps, as well as which models are affected.

Transport Canada Recalls: Ford

The recalls were both published on January 9 and updated January 15, noting that “on certain vehicles, the engine block heater could leak coolant.” In the case of this happening, the block heater could short circuit while plugged in. This then leads to an increase risk of fire.

Specifically for recall 2026004, this notice only applies to certain vehicles equipped with a 2.0 L engine.

To reduce safety risks, Ford is asking owners to not use the engine block heater until recall repairs have been completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the block heater.
