Evo Car Share Coming To New Westminster

Evo car share

BCAA’s Evo, the one-way car share service will be making its way to New Westminster on May 19th.

“New West residents told us they want Evo – they want a new, sustainable way to drive into Vancouver or tackle those local hills with a load of groceries,” says Tai Silvey, Evo director. “New West’s rich history, modern developments and changing demographic make this a natural choice for us and we can’t wait to hit the Royal City streets.”

Evo members will be able to pick up and drop off cars in New West. Evo Home Zone goes from 10th Avenue to the waterfront and goes to 14 Street, East Columbia and Braid Street. Parking will be available in the busier regions, including New West’s downtown core and Sapperton.

To kick things off, New West residents can join Evo with a waived membership fee. They will also receive 30 free driving minutes.

Evo Car Share uses a fleet of hybrid vehicles with room for five passengers, and bike/ski racks.

They’ve recently added 250 cars to their fleet and expect to roll out even more over the coming months.

This is like a dystopian nightmare. This corporation has over 70 vehicles in our little community. In Sapperton I go out the door and there is 4 cars in my face, I go around the corner and there are 2 more. Up the street and one more, down the next street one more. It is like this all through the neighbourhood. In your face everywhere you look. It is not hard to see how this will be devastating to social, economic and geographical walks of life in New Westminster. Modo is still trying to build their service, these guys just walk in and take over. And destroy the community in the bargain. Parking in New Westminster to this corporation is free, to the rest of us it is theft of our parking spaces by a bully.
