An all-new ‘Pod Hotel’ is set to open in Whistler in April 2018, the first of its kind in Canada.
Pangea Pod admits the accommodation isn’t for everyone, but thinks that Whistler is the best location to try it out.
Pod Hotel Whistler
The chic boutique hotel will feature 88 sleeping pods complete with natural wood finishes, comfy double mattresses, LED lights and charging stations.
The small spaces are an inexpensive alternative to stay right in Whistler and are built to feel like home, with soft sheets, fluffy pillows and art on the walls.
The sleeping pod will include a private cabinet to secure any valuables, and an individually controlled fan for air circulation.
The suites include a bathroom that is separated into different areas: sink & toilet, shower, and vanity. The reason behind this is so that the person occupying the washroom, doesn’t also take up the shower, vanity area or changing space.
There will also be a common area with a rooftop patio featuring stunning views of Whistler Village.
While it’s not a full hotel, it isn’t a hostel either, but rather a blend of the two accommodation styles.
Another new attraction coming to Whistler is a 130-metre suspension bridge atop Whistler Mountain. The bridge is expected to have an elevation of 2,000-metres, potentially making it the highest suspension bridge in North America.
