One Vancouver street is going to be fully closed to vehicle traffic for three days this week.
The closure affects Cambie Street, between West 41st Avenue and West 45th Avenue, as to “allow crews to safely dismantle a large construction crane.”

Cambie Street Closures
The City of Vancouver notes that this is “complex and time-sensitive work,” which will be taking place at the Oakridge Park development site. The closure will last from Monday, March 16 to Wednesday, March 18 from 7:30am to 8:00pm each day.
But once the full closure is complete, there will be more traffic disruptions.
“Following the full closure, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on Cambie Street between West 41st Avenue and West 45th Avenue from Thursday March 19 to Saturday March 21 from 7:30 am to 8 pm each day. Roads will fully reopen to traffic when the crane is fully dismantled.”
All residences and businesses will retain their access, although the City warns that residents may “experience temporary street and sidewalk impacts.” The Vancouver Police Department will be onsite to direct traffic. The City also asks that everyone follows “all detours and abide by ‘No Parking’ and ‘No Stopping’ signs in the area.”
Here’s a breakdown of the Cambie Street closures this week:
- March 16 – 18: All vehicle lanes will be closed.
- March 19 – 21: Vehicles lanes reduced to one in each direction.

While pedestrian access to the Oakridge-41st Avenue SkyTrain station will be maintianed, bus service in the area may be affected. You can check TransLink for more information about changes to your bus service.
“If you have upcoming spring break travel or are travelling to the airport or ferry terminal during these closure periods, please plan an alternate route and allow extra travel time.”
