The last thing you’d want to happen on a flight is getting kicked off, but those that don’t follow this new rule could face that on United Airlines flights.

Recently updated, the airline adjusted its Contract of Carriage, which is a set of terms of conditions that apply to passengers.

United Airlines New Rule

This new rule was added to assure quieter flights.

All United Airlines passengers are now required to use headphones when listening to audio or video content on a device. Those who fail to comply could face consequences, including being banned from flying with United Airlines in the future. If you’re the type to forget your headphones, then be sure to write down to bring a pair when flying with this airline.

The new rule falls under section Rule 21 Refusal of Transport, number 22. With this, United Airlines is able to “refuse transport on a permanent or temporary basis” to passengers who do not follow the rule, according to the updated Contract of Carriage.

Next time you’re flying with United Airlines, it’s best to remember that you can’t have any audio playing aloud in the plane.
