Butchart Gardens Fireworks Show Cancelled
Summer Firework Saturday is a weekly fireworks show put on by Butchart Gardens, offering dazzling displays that are choreographed to music. According to the event page, “fireworks are presented under permit after weekly consultation with the Central Saanich Fire Department and may be cancelled due to extreme weather.”
In this case, the August 15 show has been cancelled due to the province’s state of emergency. This isn’t the first time the fireworks have been cut due to wildfires, though, as the same thing happened in 2023.

While this week’s show is cancelled, the website does still list its August 22, 29, and September 5 shows as happening. Although, it’s important to note that these firework displays can be cancelled up to five minutes before showtime. As the fireworks are subject to local weather, sudden changes in wind or other conditions may cause cancellations.
For those visiting Butchart Gardens on August 15, you’ll still be able to see a performance by the Temps, beginning at 7:30pm.
