In hopes of finding more pets the purrfect home, the Surrey Animal Resource Centre is holding a free adoption event.
On Saturday November 16 and 17th, the centre is hosting “Home Fur the Holidays,” from 11 am to 5 pm.
“Our goal is to find the animals in our care a home for the holidays. An increase in adoptions creates more opportunity to help even more animals in need,” said shelter manager Shelley Joaquin, on the City of Surrey website.
This means anyone can take home a pet without having to pay adoption fees. However, the process will stay the same for pets and owners to find the best match.
The event includes the adoption of cats and dogs, as well as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, livestock, and rodents.

Home Fur the Holidays will happen in the centre’s newest adoption room. They received a $37,500 grant this past spring, which helped build the new space.
The B.C. SPCA held a similar event last Saturday with 50% off the usual fees. The event, Fall Head Over Tails In Love, was the second annual event.
The SPCA adopted out 212 animals from 2018’s event, proving to be a success.
