Pickleball has had a major resurgence in recent times. It seems like everyone’s played the sport at least once nowadays, and now Metro Vancouver parks and facilities have expanded their options to include the growing sport.
For all you pickleball veterans, this new facility is going to be your dream come true. And if you’re new to the sport or want to get into it, then this will also be a fantastic location for you to play and learn in, too.
PLAY (PICKLE)BALL!
This massive facility has just opened in Burnaby. In its spot was previously the old Safeway at The City of Lougheed. Now, it is the Inclusive Place of Pickleball (IPOP).

With 30,000 square footage to its name, it’s no overstatement to say that this place is giant. It’s a pickleball player’s heaven with its nine regulation-sized courts, as well as its offerings of drop-ins, practice areas, and leagues and ladder play. You won’t be short of game choices when you come to the IPOP.
INCLUSIVITY AND COMMUNITY
As the official partner of the Lower Mainland’s Minor League Pickleball, the IPOP will allow players to get a foot in the proverbial door to the Canadian National Pickleball League.
This new Burnaby facility is the IPOP’s flagship as other locations are currently in development. You might find some new IPOPs popping up in Surrey, North Vancouver, Victoria, and Nanaimo. Although, more information has yet to come out about these new locations.

The IPOP has a big focus on being inclusive and bringing together communities. They will be providing coaching for every skill level. Additionally, there will also be tournaments, youth programming, and social events.
This new facility is more than just a few courts being added to a space. It’s about opening opportunities for people to learn and grow together as they play pickleball, while also forming friendships and finding enjoyment in the sport.
You can find the IPOP at The City of Lougheed Shopping Centre, Unit 2, 9855 Austin Road, Burnaby.
