A wind warning has been issued for Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley this morning, with gusts expected to reach up to 80 km/h.
According to Environment Canada, strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring, and may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
An intense low pressure system will move across Vancouver Island just north of Port Alberni late this morning. Ahead of this low, strong southerly winds are expected to the south of the track of the low, which means almost the entire south coast.
Southerly winds of 70 to 80 km/h have developed over exposed coastal sections this morning. The winds will ease later this afternoon as the low weakens and moves out of the region.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
