Will Smith’s production company, Overbrook Entertainment, is reportedly in the process of wrapping up a sitcom pitch for a modern day version of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air series, reports TVLine. Smith will not be the star however this time around, but will take on the role of the executive producer.
The idea is currently in the early stages, and is expected to be shopped around to different TV stations within the next month.
The hit show starring Will Smith first aired in 1990 by NBC, which featured Smith as a teenager who grew up in West Philadelphia. But when a couple of guys, who were up to no good, and started making trouble in the neighborhood, Smith was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in the upscale neighborhood of Bel-Air.
The show ended after six seasons, but still remains popular to this day with re-runs, and of course Carlton memes.
