Whistler Opening Earlier Than Expected For 2017/2018 Season

Whistler Mountain

Get your skis ready, it’s time to head to Whistler!

The 2017/2018 winter season at Whistler officially kicks off with an early opening for Whistler Mountain this week.

It was originally expected to open November 23rd, but will now open on Friday, November 17th, 2017 with 20 runs and five lifts.

Blackcomb Mountain, however, will still open as scheduled on Thursday, November 23rd, 2017.

You can thank Mother Nature for the earlier opening date.

Nearly 50 centimetres (19 inches) of fresh snow fell in the alpine over the last couple of days, while another 50 cm is in the forecast by Friday.

Complete Experience

Whistler offers the perfect experience for riders. It has more than 3,300 hectares of terrain, 200+ trails and 37 lifts.

Visitors can also take part in snowmobile tours, snowshoeing, or ziplining.

Whistler is the latest resort to open early for the season. Both Grouse and Cypress have received heavy snowfall, leading to earlier openings.
