The announcement of vaccine passports being mandated across B.C. has sparked the organization of new protests in Vancouver.
In fact, protests are currently being planned in Vancouver, other parts of B.C. and across Canada on Wednesday, September 8.
The last protest in Vancouver took place outside Vancouver General Hospital and drew thousands of people. This time, the protests will target city halls.
The protests are scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
The group organizing the protests, ‘We Are All Essential,’ is asking for business owners, employees, and consumers to come together to protest for freedom of choice.
Last week’s protests outside the hospital received a lot of criticism from nurses and people trying to access the facility. Many publicly blasted the protest, stating it was not the appropriate location given many families were there grieving loved ones.
The change of location may or may not draw the same size of a crowd, but the police say they will be monitoring it.
Vancouver police are aware of the planned gatherings and state they respect the right to peacefully protest and will work to balance that with the safety of the public.
“We are monitoring the situation and have a number of options should any protest put peoples’ (sic) health and safety at risk,” said Sgt. Steve Addison.
